Austrian Digital Vignette: Full Service Overview

The Austrian e-Vignette system is administered by ASFINAG (Autobahnen- und Schnellstraßen-Finanzierungs-Aktiengesellschaft). As an independent information service, we help you understand every aspect of the system before you travel.

Service 1: Vignette Purchase Guidance

We provide detailed, step-by-step guidance on purchasing your vignette through official channels. Our guides cover the ASFINAG online shop, the ASFINAG app, authorised petrol station resellers, and border service points. We explain what information you need, how to avoid common input errors, and how to confirm your purchase was registered correctly.

The e-Vignette is stored digitally β€” no sticker required on your windscreen.

Service 2: Validity Period Selection

Choosing the wrong validity period is one of the most common and costly mistakes travellers make. Our comparison tools and tables help you select the correct option based on your travel dates, frequency of visits, and vehicle type.

Service 3: Supplementary Toll Information

Beyond the standard vignette, certain routes in Austria require additional payment. We document all known supplementary tolls, including tunnel fees, alpine road charges, and special sections. See the supplementary toll glossary entry.

Motorcycle Vignette

Motorcycles require a separate, lower-priced vignette from cars. The motorcycle vignette is also digital and linked to the motorcycle's licence plate. Prices are approximately 50% lower than car vignette prices. A car vignette does not cover a motorcycle, and vice versa.
